Welcome to MAUA Hostel

Our aim is to motivate people from all over the world to volunteer at our project, share their experience and connect. And we are creating a home away from home for you to feel safe and comfortable. And we are trying to keep the costs affordable for everyone.

Nestled on the slopes of Mt Meru, on the outskirts of Arusha in a neighborhood called Kambi ya chupa, you will find Maua Hostel. It's located just a 3 min walk from Flowers Children's Centre. It's quite unique that you don`t have to commute to the place you work but can walk down the street and already hear the kids playing at the daycare. It's green, lush surrounding makes you feel like you're living in a tropical garden.

The neighbourhood is quiet and people are friendly greeting each other whenever you walk around.  Furthermore you will find small shops, a supermarket and a pub down the street. So you don't need to go to town for your daily needs. And if there is anything you need, it's just a 20 minutes rides to the center of Arusha. 

You will be staying in a shared house with other volunteers just like you. Our hostel mama, Queen, will make you feel at home while cooking you healthy, delicious local dishes while keeping the space clean and fresh (she will also happily do your laundry for a small fee). Please feel free to inform us about any special dietary requirements. She will also ensure that you settle in quickly and comfortably into your new home. For making you feel relaxed and secure a security guide will be there during the night. 

The hostel offers three bedrooms. The Master Bedroom has it's own en-suite bathroom with a shower and toilet. This room is reserved for volunteers staying more than 4 weeks and/or for couples.

The second room is equipped with another double bed, while the third room contains a double bunk bed. These two rooms share a bathroom.

The fully equipped kitchen is at your disposal, when hostel Mama Queen is not around at the weekends. From Monday to Friday she will prepare breakfast and dinner (on the weekends, just feel free to ask her, she might be happy to cook for an additional fee). Lunch will be provided at school. 

We have a communal seating area inside and outside on the veranda (our favorite spot - you will like it too :-) ), where you can sit, chat about your day and share your experiences with the other volunteers. 

If you decide to stay at Maua Hostel, we will try our best to make your stay as marvelous as possible :)
